The HID OMNIKEY 5022 IP67 is a compact contactless USB reader designed specifically for environments where hygiene and reliability are paramount. Thanks to its IP67 rating, the reader is protected against dust and water, making it suitable for use in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food production, biotechnology, cleanrooms, and other regulated work environments.

Specially designed for hygienic environments

The OMNIKEY 5022 IP67’s housing is designed to allow for easy and thorough cleaning. Its rounded shape, the absence of sharp edges, grooves, and seams, and its smooth surface help prevent liquids from accumulating. This makes the reader suitable for environments where regular cleaning and disinfection take place.

Supports NFC, MIFARE, and DESFire

The OMNIKEY 5022 IP67 supports various contactless technologies operating at 13.56 MHz. According to HID, the reader supports, among others, MIFARE Classic, MIFARE Ultralight, Ultralight C, MIFARE Plus, and MIFARE DESFire EV1, EV2, and EV3. It also supports ISO 14443 A/B, ISO 15693, and iCLASS for CSN reading.

For DESFire EV1, EV2, and EV3, specific conditions apply when the AID and files are not secured or encrypted.

Also compatible with NFC and FIDO2

The reader supports NFC Tag Types 1 through 4 and NFC/FIDO2 devices. According to the datasheet, the OMNIKEY 5022 IP67 can also read and write to FIDO2 NFC tokens. This makes the reader suitable for modern authentication solutions that rely on contactless identification.

Additional software is required for NDEF applications.

Quick and easy to install

The OMNIKEY 5022 IP67 uses the operating system’s native CCID driver. As a result, no additional driver installation is required on supported systems. The reader also supports PC/SC and works with Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and ChromeOS.

Contactless operation reduces physical contact

Because cards and devices are read contactlessly, users do not need to physically insert their card into the reader. HID specifically cites this as an advantage for reducing cross-contamination in hygienic environments.

Compact and suitable for professional use

The OMNIKEY 5022 IP67 measures 69.6 × 63.5 × 22.1 mm and weighs approximately 96 grams. The reader connects via USB Type-A using a 150-cm cable. HID specifies an MTBF of 500,000 hours and offers a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
