The chip type refers to the technology and frequency at which the tag operates. Different chip types have different applications and properties:

125 kHz
This frequency is often used for simple applications such as access control and identification. It has limited reading distance and data capacity.

• T5577
  A programmable 125 kHz chip compatible with multiple protocols. Commonly used for access control where flexibility is required.

• EM4200
  A widely used passive 125 kHz fixed ID chip ideal for simple identification applications.

• TK4100
  An inexpensive and popular 125 kHz alternative for simple RFID systems such as key fobs or cards.

13.56 MHz - NFC / HF
This frequency is used for smart applications such as NFC, access control and contactless payments. The tags operate at short range and provide reliable communication with smartphones and other readers.

• MIFARE Classic 1K
  This type operates at 13.56 MHz and offers larger storage capacity (1 kilobyte) and better security features. It is often used in public transportation, access control and loyalty programs.

• NTAG213
  One of the most widely used NFC chips with 180 bytes of memory (NDEF: 137 bytes). Suitable for URLs, contact information or small actions via smartphones.

• NTAG215
  Has more memory than the NTAG213 (540 bytes, NDEF: 492 bytes). Popular with Amiibo and other applications that require a little more space, among others.

• NTAG216
  The version with the most memory within the NTAG family (924 bytes, NDEF: 888 bytes). Perfect for more complex applications.

• NTAG424 (NTAG424 DNA)
  Advanced chip with high security (AES-128 encryption) and extensive functions. Commonly used for authentication of products and secure applications.

• MIFARE Ultralight
  Low-cost, low-capacity chip ideal for one-time tickets or low-cost applications.

• MIFARE Ultralight C
  Variant with additional security via 3DES authentication. Suitable for simple applications with increased security.

• MIFARE DESFire EV3 2K / 4K / 8K
  Advanced chips with 2, 4 and 8 kilobytes of memory respectively, optimized for complex security and data structures. Widely used in public transportation, access management and government applications.

• MIFARE DESFire EV3 (general).
  Is known for its high security, fast transactions and versatility. Often used in conjunction with mobile access systems or smart cities.

• HITAG 2
  A versatile chip with good security and read/write functionality. Applied in vehicle identification, industrial systems and access control.

UHF 860-960 MHz
Ultra High Frequency (UHF) tags have a much greater reading distance and can read multiple tags simultaneously. They are often used in logistics, inventory control and other applications where fast and bulk reading is required.
